Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Rt. Rev. Tarcisio Narciso, OSB, Abbot-Chancellor, Rev. Mateo De Jesus, OSB, Rector-President, Dr. Ramon Ricardo Roque, Chairman of the Board, San Beda College, Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan, President San Beda College Alumni Foundation, Dr. Manuel V. Pangilinan, school administrators, distinguished guests, fellow Bedans and friends.
I am most pleased to welcome all of you tonight for another celebration of Bedan Achievement— the theme, the very heart and soul of our annual Red and White Ball.
They say that the greatness of an institution could be measured in terms of the quality of its graduates. Indeed, tonight’s celebration speaks well of what San Beda College (San Beda) has achieved through the past 107 years of its existence. We take pride that San Beda has produced outstanding men and women, and that they have made positive contributions to society, domestically and internationally. We are therefore gathered here tonight to honor them.
I thank Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for taking time out from her busy schedule to grace tonight’s important affair.
Let it be mentioned that San Beda has not only excelled in the many facets of endeavor but in sport as well by garnering among others the back-to-back NCAA Basketball championship through the San Beda Red Lions this year and the preceding year wherein recognition should be given to Dr. Manny V. Pangilinan or MVP as one of the primemovers.
We express our thanks and gratitude once more to MVP for continuously supporting the Red and White Ball, and believing that this annual gathering of Bedans is something worthwhile and should be kept alive and strong.
I wish to thank also our officers and members of the San Beda College Alumni Association, San Beda College Alumni Foundation and the numerous Bedan donors for all the assistance in ensuring that this event would be another milestone.
Not to be forgotten is our very efficient Secretariat under the leadership of Prof. Joffre Alajar who has worked so hard, attending to every detail of tonight’s program and making sure that we would have a well organized production.
With the NBC Tent visibly full-packed tonight, I am confident this early, that tonight’s celebration of Bedan achievement would be recorded as one of the most successful Bedan events ever staged here in the NBC Tent. Congratulations to our awardees and jubilarians, and thanks to our guest performers, and more importantly to you fellow Bedans and friends for gracing us with your presence.
Enjoy the evening.
GO SAN BEDA FIGHT!
