Speech of Atty. Buhain
REX’S CHALLENGE TO THE AUTHORS
It has been a long day. Not only was this workshop physically grueling but also intellectually exhausting. Meeting you at the end of this day still withy warm smiles, seeing your enthusiasm and spirit kept uplifted, makes me confident and sure that LEMRO 2000 has not made the lightest mistake in joining hands with you in this endeavor.
And so, congratulations for finishing this workshop and producing your respective Scopes and Sequences for the English and Filipino High School. But, just like how we as parents and teachers explain to our children and students upon graduation that finishing a course simply means starting a life, so too, finishing this workshop is merely a start of a uphill process in production. There will be more challenges to come and we will face them; there will be mountains to climb and together we will climb them.
I do not wish to keep you any further but allow me to quote Ralph Waldo Emerson. The great poet said, “If we encounter a man of rare intellect, we should ask him what books he reads.” My challenge to you is that we make books that shall make intelligent Filipinos.
Thank you and good night.
