Publishing Industry Plays Key Role in Nation Building

My warmest felicitation to the delegates, guests and organizers of the 9th National Press Congress, sponsored by the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI), on your annual media  assembly on December 12-14, 2004 at the Manila Hotel and M/S Philippines.

Over the years, the Philippine Educational Publishers Association (PEPA) and PAPI have nourished and forged a mutually beneficial multi-lateral and fraternal relationship that bespeaks of true amity and friendship considering that book publishers are also members of PAPI under its charter. Today, we commend our concerted effort in enhancing the Philippine publishing business climate through the hosting of such annual event. Through your developmental projects and programs the country’s publishing industry remains strong and capable of rapid progress.

Your fitting theme: ‘’Towards a Strong Republic through Vibrant Community Press,’’ proves that the working press particularly the community media in the country is striving harder for the betterment of our social and economic conditions. By boosting our publishing development, you help the government establish a strong a robust republic.

It is in this light that I wish the fruitful holding of this event and urge all of you to continue your noteworthy endeavors. May you continue to serve the country in promoting peace and progress especially in this crucial time. Let us work together for a better tomorrow.

Mabuhay KayongLahat!
