Good evening to everyone. In behalf of my family, I’m thankful that we are sharing this very special night with all of you, the members of our Rex family. Together, we have made it possible for Rex Book Store Inc. to reach another milestone, our 60th year anniversary.
Tonight is about reminiscing about the old times and taking stock of how far we’ve come. We will take a look back on the journey of the company starting from its humble beginnings. From the time Manong and Manang established Rex Book Store first as a book selling business to eventually becoming a publishing company championing the Filipino author. I remember every step very vividly, from being the first salesman, who literally went around the Philippines to promote our books to hundreds of schools. Then later on eventually helping out my parents in running the company, working hand in hand with my brothers and sister, and up to the time that the third generation joins the operations of company.
However, Rex would not be here right now if it were not also for the people behind the scenes. The people who have worked so hard, and continue to do so for the company and have taken pride in what they do. Each has contributed so much, in their own ways, to the growth and the longevity that this company enjoys. These people are the pillars that helped keep the company standing for years and for many more to come. You are these people. The Rex employees, from the janitors, rank and file to the managers who have pooled their talents and skills to move the company forward.
No company that has stood the test of time went without being tested by fate. Rex Book Store Inc. would not be able to reach this stage without going through its own share of ups and downs. The company has encountered major obstacles in its lifetime; such as the big fire that razed the company to the ground and the big strike that crippled the operations. These events have threatened the continuity of our existence. Yet, with the Divine grace of God, we have been given the strength to stand up and start anew. Brushed the dust off our shoulders, endured the wounds and carried on with our mission more determined than ever. These have molded us and helped make us into what we are now.
We are at this point in our lives because together we share the passion for excellence brought by years of valuable experience coupled with dedication and pride. Tonight, at our 60th year we show that we have grown not just as a company but as a family.
Together, let us look back and reminisce, as we savor the fruits of our hard work and dedication. Ladies and gentlemen, tonight let us witness the story of our lives as it unfolds. Sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of the evening.
