Caloy
Having spent the entire elementary and high school years for which I received the San Beda College gold loyalty award, I could vividly recall back then during the Caloy Loyzaga Days in the presence of Bonnie Carbonnel, Nick Carrenceja and noteworthy personalities during the 1950s that after viewing the basketball bouts at Rizal Memorial, we and my family would emerge triumphant after viewing the victorious game over an NCAA opponent.
There was even a point in time when a drawing contest that would portray our basketball successes with Caloy being highlighted where I would participate under Professor Manansala. It was during that time that we engaged primarily in the buying and selling books.
Little did I realize that after the lapse of five (5) decades, our business would somehow improve thus allowing us to put a printing press and would be honored and privileged to be entrusted with the privilege of printing the book of the legend.
Printing a book brings forth a noble objective of documenting the struggles and successes of the person as well as disseminating the same for all people to know which would otherwise vanish into oblivion.
I am thankful therefore to the San Beda Alumni Association and San Beda Foundation for the establishment of the San Beda High School Athletic Endowment Fund Program to give realization to the aspiration to put into print the life of the legend whose content was intellectually rationalized and placed into editorial care through the initiative of Lito Cinco, Albert Almendralejo, Bing Loyzaga-Gibbs and Chito Loyzaga .
