SPEECH ON THE OCCASION OF 2010
CHRISTMAS PARTY ON DECEMBER 23, 2010
( Roofdeck, REX Printing Complex)
Good evening to the Management and staff of the REX Group of Companies, our authors and guests who are gathered here to celebrate the 2010 Christmas Party wherein we are adopting the theme “REX Unveils the Distinct and Colorful Cultural Dances Among Selected Countries of the World” to serve as the tone of our Christmas celebration and presentation tonight.
Similar to my previous statements during the preceding year, I wish to acknowledge once more the Divine Providence for allowing us to hold this festivity once more .
This year 2010, we celebrated the 60th year of business existence and that we conducted several activities highlighting our 60th year like the celebration we had at the Bahay Alumni early part of this year and culminated by the dinner we hosted for our partners during the recently held CEAP Convention in Cebu City wherein we were joined by no less than the CNN National Hero Awardee Efren Peñaflorida and other celebrities in the launching of the partnership with the ABS – CBN Knowledge Channel.
In terms of our performance unearthed during the presentation of yearend reports, we could say that we did fairly well both in our operations and in the market. Thanks to the double digit improvement of sales under the National Sales Manager Rico Lavalle; the management of stocks through OIG Manager Liza del Valle; the quality of our products through PRDG Manager Ernesto Salao and the Publishing Manager Danda Garcia who recently has been frequently attending international seminars and conventions allowing the Company to have a breakthrough as manifested by being the pioneer in UBD- compliant products; the able guardianship of our treasury under CFAG Manager Sunday Fontelera; the noteworthy marketing and promotional strategies under Marketing Manager Jeanne Tordesillas; Quality Assurance through Baningning Campang and the availability of required information through MIS Manager Richie Regunan; RBSII International through Manager Breezy Santiago likewise improved its sales ; and of course to all of us who are supportive of their endeavors.
The combination of all these elements brought us to where we are now to continue to celebrate Christmas and hopefully more years to come.
We are thankful to the aggressiveness and dynamism of our COO with the assistance of consultants with huge financial allocations which nevertheless brought results.
We give recognition also to the acceptance of the leadership of Dominador Miguel who was once more elected as Union President by a greater number of votes.
In terms of our participation in various industry organizations, we are privileged that yours truly as the company’s representative to the Philippine Printing Technical Foundation or PPTF has recently been elected President of the Foundation.
We are likewise honored in international community when your humble representation was elected President of the Asia Pacific Publishers Association (APPA) which has been in existence for almost twenty years , its third President after Japan and Korea.
In socio-civic organization like the Ayala Heights Village Association, your humble representation was elected also to handle key position .
Even though the carrying of many hats would really be that exhausting, I nevertheless consider it as a way of bringing honor to the REX Group and to the family.
Though there were so many good things that took place during the year, we were all jolted when our beloved Chairman Manong answered the call of his Maker after a lingering illness, prompting me by force of circumstances to assume the positions of Chairman and President. Admittedly, it’s a hard act to follow.
But we must move on, armed with the values that the founders Manong and Manang lived by – industry, integrity, honesty, etc.
So for the coming year, let us all renew our commitment to strive hard to grow this great enterprise that Manong and Manang founded, that it may one day be at the pinnacle not only of the local book publishing and printing industry, but even worldwide, if only to give realization to the recently formulated corporate vision, mission and core values.
Of course, whatever little achievements we might be enjoying would not be possible without all of you, the middle management or Mancom and more importantly the suppliers of intellectual inputs, our beloved authors.
Sa inyong lahat maraming salamat. Maligayang Pasko at Masaganang Bagong Taon!
